37th annual event carries on strong city traditions
AUGUSTA, GA (July 7, 2016) – This year’s 37th Annual Augusta City Amateur Golf Tournament will be played on the weekend of July 15-17 at Forest Hills Golf Course. Registration is open now for two divisions – Open; and Senior, for those age 50 and over. Seniors may elect to play in the Open division but must declare at the time of registration.
“The Augusta City Amateur Golf Tournament at Forest Hills is a long-standing tradition for Augusta golfers,” says Dan Elliott, PGA, general manager and director of golf at the popular club. “The annual event gives our area golfers a chance to compete in three days of exciting play.”
Two rounds of initial play will determine the final field of the top 60 and ties in the Open division and the top 36 and ties in the Senior division. Cost of play for the three days is $175 and includes golf, daily lunches, tee gifts and prizes.
The event began in 1979 and is always hosted at Forest Hills. Past champions have included the Augusta State University Golf Team and Vaughn Taylor, a PGA tour and Web.com veteran.
