The South Florida PGA announces Lucas Edelman as the 2016 South Florida PGA Professional Golf Management Scholarship recipient. This scholarship was created in 2007 to provide financial assistance to exemplary students enrolled in this South Florida based PGM program at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Lucas has worked several internships in the golf industry over the past few years. He worked outside operations at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ for two summers and at Naples National Golf Club. He also worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at West Bay Club in Estero. While as West Bay, Lucas took on complete responsibilities of two events. Currently, he works at PGA Magazine where he helps with Best Practice articles and interviews PGA Champions Tour Golfers.
Lucas is very passionate about environmental sustainability and is looking to pursue an MBA Degree after completing his degree at FGCU. He has been involved with the United States Green Building Council since 2013 and has created a new initiative for environmental sustainability within golf facilities. He has become the project lead for LEED for Golf Facilitates Initiative and he works directly with USGBC’s Chief of Engineering.
Jeff Raimer, PGA Director of Golf at West Bay Club said this about Lucas, “It became incredibly obvious to me at a very early stage in his employment that Luke is well beyond his years in intellect, initiative and drive to be successful. Due to this I was able to hand off numerous projects and job responsibilities to Luke that I have not been able to with my previous interns.”
We here at the South Florida PGA know Lucas will be successful with his future endeavors and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes. For more details and information about the SFPGA Foundation click here.
