Campaign supports PGA HOPE – Helping Our Patriots Everywhere – golf program for military Veterans with disabilities
ORLANDO, Fla. (July 14, 2016) – Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, in collaboration with PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America, today announced the recent Hit the Green for HOPE campaign generated more than $26,000, with 100% of the proceeds supporting PGA HOPE – golf programming for United States military Veterans with disabilities.
Approximately 2,000 golfers at 17 participating Marriott Golf properties nationwide participated in the promotion which included the opportunity for golfers to win prizes/golf shop discounts by hitting the green on a designated par 3 at each respective facility.
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship Military program of PGA REACH – the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. The HOPE program introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities in order to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. Led by PGA Professionals, PGA HOPE is a proven activity that has helped thousands of Veterans assimilate back into their communities through the social interaction the game of golf provides. All PGA HOPE programming is fully funded by PGA REACH and offered at NO COST to military Veterans.
“As part of our social responsibility efforts, Marriott Golf remains committed to supporting golf programs for Veterans and I’m thrilled that we raised $26,000 for PGA HOPE,” said Bill Nault, Vice President, Marriott Golf.
As golf has become a therapeutic part of the rehabilitation process for many Veterans with disabilities, participants of HOPE programs include military Veterans living with physical or cognitive challenges such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and amputees, among other challenges.
“It’s rewarding to see an organization like Marriott Golf support our cause, while helping us leverage the game of golf to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of military Veterans through PGA HOPE programming,” said Scott Kmiec, Senior Director of PGA REACH.
