(Westhampton, NY – July 22, 2016) — Ann Liguori, popular sports talk show host/golf correspondent/interviewer, will be a recipient of a ‘Corey Award’ at the Gene Michael Charity Golf Classic and dinner, benefitting the Ed Lucas Foundation for the Blind and Disabled, joining recipients Oscar-nominated actor Danny Aiello and Emmy-Award winning actor Tony LoBianco.
The 2016 Corey Awards Dinner, to be held on Monday, August 22nd at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, New Jersey, will be a celebration of 100 years of Sinatra, the man and his music. As part of the tribute to the legacy of “The Chairman of the Board,” Corey Awards will be given to the three notable Italian-Americans who have contributed greatly to society and have all been involved in some way with the Sinatra family, their charitable foundation and Mr. Sinatra’s legacy.
Liguori, a pioneer in broadcasting, who was one of the first voices heard on WFAN and has covered major sporting events for the last thirty years, will be recognized for her career and for her work with the Ann Liguori Foundation, raising funds and awareness for cancer research, prevention and care, among other charitable efforts. Each year, Ann plays in the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Invitational in Palm Springs, California, benefiting the Barbara Sinatra Center for Abused Children. Aiello, who has appeared in over 90 films, will be honored for a lifetime in the arts and humanities. Lo Bianco, best known for his role in the film, French Connection, is an Emmy-Award winner and Ellis Island Medal of Honor winner.
The Corey Awards Dinner, formerly known as the Scooter Awards, is the major annual fundraiser for the Ed Lucas Foundation for the Blind and Disabled, which provides scholarships for disabled students, sponsors the raising and care of guide dogs, supports research into diabetes and other serious ailments, and many other means of assistance for the disabled.
Over thirty celebrities from sports and entertainment will be in attendance that day to meet and mingle with guests, as well as costumed characters and entertainers. The auction will feature over 100 items autographed by A-list stars and Hall of Famers. Long-time sportscasters Spencer Ross and Don Gould will serve as the celebrity auctioneers. Noted artist James Fiorentino has contributed a spectacular piece for the auction in honor of Frank Sinatra’s life, depicting “Old Blue Eyes” during the various stages of his career. The item will also include a certified Frank Sinatra signature.
