Director of golf operations clinches one of his career “bucket list” accomplishments
with the receipt of 2016 merchandising award from the PGA of America
AUSTIN/BASTROP, TEXAS (July 27, 2016) – Wolfdancer Golf Club’s Kelly O’Donnell was named Merchandiser of the Year – Resort Facilities by the PGA of America. O’Donnell, who serves as the course’s director of golf operations, was just one of 12 golf professionals in the country to receive national recognition in 2016.
“Winning the national merchandising award for our category is a bucket-list moment I never thought I’d see,” said O’Donnell, who helped open Wolfdancer in 2006, and became director of golf operations in 2013. “Delivering a pro shop experience that matches the quality of our course has always been a priority for us, which is why this tip of the hat from the PGA means so much to me and my team.”
Located at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa, Wolfdancer features a 1,500-square-foot pro shop inside its clubhouse. The pro shop boasts a thoughtfully curated collection of apparel and goods that are on point in terms of style and sport. It’s a place where visitors can find fashionable and comfortable clothing, hats, visors, footwear and equipment, as well as both practical and fun gifts for golf enthusiasts.
The 2016 PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award stands among a number of merchandising accolades the Wolfdancer team has received over the years, including the Association of Golf Merchandising: Platinum Award in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, as well as the PGA America National Awards: Southern Texas Section Merchandiser of the Year in 2009, 2013 and 2015.
And yet the highly lauded pro shop is just the first stop on a golfer’s adventure at Wolfdancer. The Texas wilderness layout delivers a memorable 18-hole golf experience for players of all levels-from the amateur hobbyist to the seasoned pro. Since opening in 2006, the award-winning public golf course has been ranked and recognized locally, regionally and nationally for its playability, scenic beauty and memorable rounds. Other notable accolades include Golf Advisor’s Top 50 U.S. Courses 2016 and consistent spots among top lists from Golf Magazine, Golfweek and Dallas Morning News. The course also became Audubon International certified in 2011.
