ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 15, 2016) – Accomplished golf instructor Cheryl Anderson, one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America and the LPGA’s 2006 National Teacher of the Year, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Anderson, director of instruction at the Mike Bender Golf Academy in Lake Mary, Fla., is a coach in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of top-tier teachers. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches also are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf. Anderson was most recently in Golf Channel’s studios to take part in National Instruction Day in early May.
“I’m very excited to appear on Morning Drive, especially during the week of the Rio Olympics women’s golf competition,” said Anderson, “It’s a very exciting moment for the game’s top women players and I will look forward to analyzing what it will take to win the gold medal.”
Anderson teaches many top juniors in her role at the Mike Bender Golf Academy. She currently is listed at No. 7 on Golf Digest’s list of the Top 50 Women Teachers in America. She also was named the Metropolitan PGA Section’s 2007 Teacher of the Year.
Anderson is one of the best woman club pro players ever. In 2004, she earned the Met PGA Section Women’s Player of the Year award for a record fifth consecutive season. Her play in 2002 was historic as she became the first women to win all three of the Metropolitan PGA women’s events in one season: The Metropolitan Women’s Open, Met Women’s Stroke Play Championship and Met Women’s Match Play Championship. Her first book, Teach Yourself Visually Golf, was published in 2007.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Anderson continues to teach the way she knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
