South Florida PGA will begin fifth Habitat for Humanity home build
Today, the South Florida PGA kicks off its fifth Habitat for Humanity home build in Stuart. Partnering with the Habitat for Humanity Martin County, the South Florida PGA will help build a home for Tandra Islam and her two children. Tandra moved to Martin County 10 years ago from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She and her two children, Safqaat, 6 and Tanjila, 10 live in a two-bedroom apartment in Stuart. During the day she works for the Martin County School District as a pre-kindergarten ESE teacher and in the afternoon she works at the Boys and Girls Club of Martin County. “My main hope is to be a great Habitat for Humanity homeowner and I hope to build a better life for myself and for my kids,” Tandra said.
The South Florida PGA will donate $50,000 and countless individuals (PGA Professionals, friends and junior tour members) will be onsite to volunteer their time to build the home for Tandra and her kids.
Volunteer dates include: August 27, 30, September 14, 16, 30, October 6, 7, 20, 22, 26, 27. To get involved with this Habitat for Humanity home build, please contact Meredith Schuler at mschuler @pgahq.com.
