USA Junior Golf Team-National Stroke Play Championship

(Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas) -The USA Junior Golf Team is proud to announce that the USA Junior Golf Team Championship will be held October 14th-16th, 2016 at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, GA.

This thirty-six-hole stroke play championship will feature a field of seventy-two players from all across the USA. Two different divisions will compete: Future Stars who will play a course set up of approximately 6,000 yards and pre elite and elite athletes who will compete on a course set up of approximately 6,900 yards. There will be both a team and individual stroke play event for junior girls and boys. Participants will also be able to accumulate valuable points through the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings.

General Manager Rod Kooker says, “The Golf Club of Georgia is proud to be hosting the USA Junior Team National Championship. It’s been a pleasure to see some great young athletes grow with this exceptional program as they compete for advancement to the next level”.

Top finishers in both the boys and girls championship will represent the USA Junior Golf Team in future events.

In addition to the thirty six hole stroke play championship, all participants will participate in three skills challenges: Drive, Pitch and Putt Challenges will be help at the completion of round one. Top finishers in each category will great prizes from the USA Junior Golf Team and our sponsors.

Future Stars teams are for athletes age eleven and older who have displayed a passion for the game and possess experience in competitive golf events. Team members will meet two-to-three times weekly for coaching sessions led by Certified USA National Team coaches and are eligible to participate in regional training camps along with regional, national and international tournaments.

USA National Team Coaches identify prospective Pre-Elite team members based on their performance in USA National Golf Camps, high school golf competitions, or state and local junior tournaments. These players consistently score in the mid 70s to low 80s. Work ethic and attitude are also important traits. Like Future Stars, Pre-Elite juniors will meet two-to-three times per week with certified coaches and may participate in regional, national and international tournaments.

Selection to the Elite Team is an honor reserved for the most talented, polished, and hard-working individuals. USA National Team Coaches invite prospective Elite Team members based on their performance in USA National Golf Camps or national junior tournaments. Our Elite Team members enjoy competitive success at the local, state, and national levels. Elite Team members meet two-to-three times weekly throughout each training season, participate in Regional and National training camps, and are eligible to qualify for and compete in Regional and International Team Matches.
