(PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.) – The Wanamaker and Dye courses at PGA Golf Club – the PGA of America’s flagship 54-hole facility in Port St. Lucie, FL – rank No. 23 and 30, respectively, on GOLF Magazine’s 2016 edition of the “Best Courses Near You.”
Part of its biennial “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” in the United States list, “Best Courses Near You” highlights the top tracks in all 50 states as determined by the magazine’s editorial staff and panel of well-traveled golf industry insiders.
PGA Golf Club joins other notable courses on the powerhouse list including TPC Sawgrass, Streamsong Resort and Bay Hill Club & Lodge, perennial host of the PGA TOUR’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.
“This honor is testament to the investment in excellence our team and the PGA of America has made at PGA Golf Club,” says Jimmy Terry, PGA Senior General Manager of PGA Golf Club. “Conditions on and off our courses have never been better, and with the Dye Course reopening soon following a complete re-grassing project, we’ll undoubtedly provide the one of the most complete golf experiences in the Sunshine State.”
Golfers are raving about immaculate playing surfaces on the recently renovated Wanamaker Course. New turf on fairways and bunker surrounds, and the reframing of holes with several ornamental species, has heighted the overall experience on the Tom Fazio-designed layout. As such, it jumped five spots to No. 16 in Golfweek’s 2016 “Best Courses You Can Play: State-by-State” list. Among its unforgettable holes is the 389-yard, par-4 18th which adds an exclamation to exciting rounds with a massive beach bunker guarding the right side of the fairway and a lake protecting the front of the green.
Following successful enhancements to the Wanamaker Course, the Dye Course closed for a complete renovation of fairways and greens and is expected to reopen for play in Mid-November. Also adding to the buzz surrounding PGA Golf Club is the modernized 20,000 square-foot clubhouse, home to the new American-British fusion Taplow Pub which has quickly become a favorite destination for golfers and non-golfers alike.
