SCOTTSDALE, AZ – August 25, 2016 – Global Golf Management Group, a golf course management company and leading provider of competitive amateur golf events across the United States such as the United States Golf Challenge (USGC) today announced that the USGC National Championship will be held September 29 – October 1, 2016 at Disney World Golf Resort in Orlando, FL.
The 2016 USGC began this past spring at selected golf courses nationwide with over 600 teams participating in eight different divisions. After months of strong competition across the country, more than 100 teams will face-off next month in Florida to crown the 8 USGC National Champion teams. This event is unique due to its two-man best-ball format, open and senior divisions, four different flights, local to national structure and its most notably its international championship, The King’s Cup.
The eight National Championship winning teams from Orlando will go on an expense paid trip to Ireland to represent the United States in the King’s Cup against their Irish counterparts in a Ryder Cup Style Match Play Event aptly named after golf’s greatest ambassador, Arnold Palmer. In addition to the King’s Cup competition in Ireland, the National Champions in each flight two 7-night oceanfront resort vacations for two to the resort of their choice on the Mexican Riviera, a $500 gift certificate to the Disney Golf Pro Shop ($250 per player). The 2017 International King’s Cup will be held at the multi-award winning Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland, a luxurious 5-star hotel and Faldo designed golf course nestled on a 600-acre peninsula with spectacular views of The Fermanagh Lakelands.
The founders of this event were the very successful founders of the American Amateur Golf Tour, which grew to over 4,000 participants and is now owned by The Golf Channel.
About the United States Golf Challenge – The United States Golf Challenge is the nation’s premier two-man best-ball tournament. In its inaugural 2015 season, the USGC conducted over 90 Local Qualifiers around the U.S., 20 State Championships and hosted over 100 teams at the National Championship held at Disney World Golf.
