The Quechee Club welcomes 33 teams from 29 of the leading Northeast Universities to the 3rd Annual Quechee Collegiate Challenge, co-hosted by Dartmouth College and Southern NH University. This year’s tournament expands to include new and returning D1 and D2 Men’s teams, as well as five, first year D2 Ladies teams. Each school will send their top five players who will compete in a 36-hole, stroke play format with the top four aggregate for each day.
Men’s D2 teams will kick-off this three-part tournament with two days of play on Monday, September 19 and Tuesday, September 20, 2016. A total of 14, D2 schools will compete on the Quechee Club’s Lakeland and Highland courses this year, up from 11 participating schools in 2015. Returning D2 schools include Southern NH University, Bentley University, The College of St. Rose, Assumption College, St. Anselm College, St. Michael’s College, Post University, American International College and Franklin Pearce University. This year’s event welcomes five, first time D2 Men’s teams, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Adelphi University, Nyack College, Wilmington University and Dominican College.
The D1 Men’s teams will compete in the second event of the three-part challenge on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, 2016. Back to defend their championship title is tournament co-host, Dartmouth College. The Dartmouth College D1 Men’s team was the overall winner of the 2015 Collegiate Challenge when they posted a team score of 578 after competing against rival, Harvard University, who took home the title in 2014 with an overall low score of 574.
Dartmouth College will compete alongside 13 opposing D1 schools to include Brown University, Cornell University, Columbia University, Colgate University, Fordham University, Harvard University, Holy Cross University, Penn State University, Temple University, University of Hartford, University of Rhode Island, as well as D1 first timers Central Connecticut State University and Sienna University.
A new addition to this year’s Collegiate Challenge is five, D2 Ladies teams who will play the third and final tournament date on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23, 2016. Southern NH University’s Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach, Matthew Arvanitis coordinated the induction of the ladies teams to the 2016 tournament, to include LIU Post, Assumption College, College of St. Rose, Southern NH University and Post University.
