Leading golf footwear innovator, ECCO Golf, is delighted to announce that ambassador Caroline Masson claimed her maiden victory on the LPGA Tour on Sunday, shooting a spectacular final round of 66 to win the Manulife LPGA Classic in Ontario, Canada.
Competing in her special-edition ECCO BIOM HYBRID 2 shoes which were crafted specifically for the Olympic Games and feature the German flag on the side, Masson entered the final round three shots off the lead but carded nine birdies en route to a one shot victory.
In capturing her first professional victory on North American soil, Masson edged out fellow ECCO ambassadors Minjee Lee and Mi Huang Lee, both of whom shot 273 for the week to finish in a tie for second.
“It’s hard to believe. I mean it really is. Obviously I was in a good position coming into today, and I was thinking, well, if I can shoot a really good round, I might have a chance, but I was totally not expecting it,” commented Masson.
“I tried to stay relaxed out there, enjoy it. It’s such a beautiful day and such a beautiful golf course. I just really tried to have a good time with my caddy, Danny. And yeah, it’s unbelievable that it really worked out in the end.”
Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO, added:
“Caroline is a special talent. She’s been knocking on the door for quite some time now and it was only a matter of time before she finally broke through and joined the winner’s circle. I have no doubt it will be the first of many victories on the LPGA Tour for her.
“It’s great to see that both Caroline and Minjee are continuing to wear the custom BIOM HYBRID 2 shoes that we created especially for when they competed in the recent Olympic Games in Rio,” continued Waack.
Handcrafted from rich, supple yak leather, women’s ECCO BIOM HYBRID 2 boasts a sleek, low-profile frame and uppers that are colour-matched to the outsole, trim and laces.
ECCO Golf shoes are also worn in competition around the world by Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Peter Hanson, Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjørn, Thongchai Jaidee, Will Wilcox, Ben Evans, Jim Renner, Gerina Piller, Jennifer Johnson, Kendall Dye, Pernilla Lindberg, Therese Koelbaek and Liz Young, among others.
