BELLINGHAM, Wash. – SteelFiber graphite iron shafts are having a breakout year on the LPGA Tour. After already winning seven events, SteelFiber shaffts – designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf – scored three Top 10s at the Manulife LPGA Classic, including a tie second-place.
Playing SteelFiber i80s in her irons, the 2015 rookie from Australia with already two career wins tied for second-place with a 15-under par 273 (70-69-66-68). Meanwhile, the 20-year-old, five-time LPGA tour winner from Bangkok played SteelFiber J108s graphite shafts in her irons for a T5 finish; and another player with SteelFiber i80 shafts added a new Top 10 to her bio with a T8 finish.
“SteelFiber shafts are having another amazing year on the pro tours, and it seems that SteelFiber’s unique performance benefits may not be one of the Tour’s best kept secrets any more,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “For men or women, young or old, professional or amateur, SteelFiber shafts delivery stability and increased distance while they simultaneously reduce the risk of injury, lessen aggravation of existing injuries and decrease player fatigue. It’s game-changing technology that allows players of all skill levels to play their best for longer.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
In 2015, SteelFiber shafts delivered seven wins – three on the PGA Tour and two each on the Champions and LPGA Tours. The previous year was equally successful with SteelFiber chalking up five wins on the PGA TOUR and two more on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts routinely rank high on the PGA Money List, Official World Golf Rankings and the FedEx Cup Season Points. In 2013, for example, SteelFiber players ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points and ended overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List.
