Olympia Fields, Ill. (September 15, 2016) – The 2017 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship – to be held June 27- July 2 at Olympia Fields Country Club in the Chicago Southland community of Olympia Fields – is seeking both adult and junior volunteers to help in a variety of capacities.
As the first major golf championship hosted in Chicagoland since the 2006 PGA Championship, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Volunteers will have an opportunity to once again witness and engage first-hand with 156 of the world’s best golfers. As the Championship reaches for new heights, volunteers will play a major role in helping ensure a great experience for players, spectators and the community. Adult volunteers, ages 22 and older, are required to work four shifts and contribute a minimum of 16 hours total, while junior volunteers, ages 14 to 21, are required to work three shifts and contribute a minimum of 12 hours. Shifts will last between three and four hours.
All volunteers will receive a uniform (golf shirt, outerwear piece and headwear), a credential providing site access from Tuesday through Sunday of event week, a Championship program, and a limited number of meal and water vouchers. The volunteer fee for adults is $130; there is no fee for junior volunteers.
Notable volunteer committees include admission sales, marshals, contestant transportation, leader boards and thru boards, and walking scorers.
Junior volunteers are needed for standard bearers, leader boards and thru boards, and monster board.
“Olympia Fields and our members are excited to partner with KPMG, the PGA of America and the LPGA to host this Championship,” said Brian Morrison, championship general chair and director of golf at Olympia Fields Country Club. “However, we cannot make this event a success on our own and are calling upon our neighbors to volunteer and truly be the lifeblood of this Championship. We’re confident the Chicagoland community will come out in droves to be part of this major.”
The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship – a collaboration between the PGA of America, KPMG and the LPGA Tour – continues the rich tradition of the LPGA Championship. Broadcast in partnership with NBC and Golf Channel, the Championship offers a purse among the highest in women’s golf. The event combines an annual major golf championship with the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit and an ongoing charitable initiative called the KPMG Future Leaders Program – all focused on the development, advancement, and empowerment of women on and off the golf course.
