DALLAS (September 28, 2016) – Ancala Country Club, one of nine Arcis Golf properties in the greater Phoenix area, has completed more than $2 million in renovations that has enriched virtually every element of the private facility.
Expanding its status as one of the leading golf club owners and operators in the Valley of the Sun, Arcis Golf has infused a fresh vitality into Ancala with the creation of a new restaurant, called Overlook, to complement the comprehensive transformation of its clubhouse, along with a completely remodeled fitness center and refurbished swimming pool.
“We are creating a new culture,” said John Cavaliere, general manager at Ancala Country Club. “It’s all about the member, giving them a personalized experience in a friendly, luxury resort environment – not only that experience, but a feeling of ownership. It’s their place.”
Located in Scottsdale, Ancala Country Club is elevated above Paradise Valley along the foothills of the McDowell Mountain Preserve and Trails. Recognized as one of Arizona’s finest full-service private country clubs, Ancala is a prime example of Arcis Golf’s dedication to the Phoenix golf community.
“Owning nine golf courses in the Phoenix area is a great opportunity for Arcis Golf to have a positive impact on the golf landscape,” said Blake Walker, Chairman and CEO of the Dallas-based company. “Being part of this vibrant golf community is integral to the direction we are taking at Arcis Golf.”
The Ancala renovation features a popular addition showing up in many recent Arcis Golf clubhouse projects nationwide: an upscale gastropub-style restaurant, featuring high-quality cuisine and cocktails in a setting designed as the centerpiece of the remodeled clubhouse.
“This isn’t just a 19th hole,” Cavaliere said of Overlook restaurant, named for its views of the desert and mountains. “Whether you play golf, or not, this is a very social, collaborative environment, which fits with all of our members’ lifestyle. And our sunsets are the best in Scottsdale.”
Overlook’s dining experience is under the direction of Executive Chef Randy Heltsley, who is utilizing locally sourced products for a farm-fresh, “everything from scratch” menu. A new, glassed-in wine room was created for private gatherings, whether for dinner or meetings.
The renovated health and fitness complex features 2,500 square feet of new state-of-the-art Cybex cardio and strength training equipment, and more, with a personal trainer on staff. The enhancements to the swimming pool create a relaxing atmosphere.
Ancala’s challenging Perry Dye-designed golf course, which debuted in 1990, has undergone alterations that reveal the natural desert landscape. And the lone lake on the par 72, stretching between the 9th and 18th holes, is being refreshed. Ancala remains an excellent test of shot-making and strategy to negotiate the ravines that crisscross the routing.
Other Arcis Golf private clubs in the greater Phoenix area are Arrowhead Country Club in Glendale and Tatum Ranch Golf Club in Cave Creek. In the company’s public course collection are Raven Golf Club and Stonecreek Golf Club in Phoenix, Kokopelli Golf Club in Gilbert, Continental Golf Club in Scottsdale, The Legend at Arrowhead in Glendale, and Superstition Springs Golf Club in Mesa. This portfolio of top private and public-access courses makes Arcis one of the region’s finest and most dedicated golf providers.
Arcis Golf has allocated in excess of $50 million in major capital improvements to its portfolio of 68 public and private facilities nationwide. Its diverse collection of Phoenix area facilities, which consists of three private clubs and six public courses, continues to be scheduled for future investment and renovations.
“The improvements we make across the wide spectrum of our golf properties in Phoenix, from high-end private clubs to desirable daily-fee courses – not only will be good for golf, but good for the community,” Walker said.
