ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2016) – Accomplished teaching professional Virgil Herring, a five-time Middle Tennessee Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year (2002, ’03, ’05, ’06 and ’15) and two-time Tennessee Section PGA Teacher of the Year (2003, ’15), is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive October 5 and 6.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Herring, founder and owner of Higher Performance Golf Academy in Franklin, Tenn., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Herring is making his second appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited to be appearing on Morning Drive once again,” said Herring, a former long drive participant who competed against the likes of five-time World Long Drive Champion Jason Zuback. (Golf Channel will be broadcasting the finals of the 2016 World Long Drive Championship, Oct. 11 and 12.) “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches and I look forward to sharing some of my favorite power tips with the viewers at home.”
A golf instructor for more than two decades, Herring has taught more than 140 NCAA scholarship recipients and PGA Tour professionals, including eight-time PGA Tour winner and Ryder Cupper Brandt Snedeker. Herring has coached a number of top junior players, and was named a 2015 Top 25 Elite Coach by Future Champions Golf and U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Instructor by U.S. Kids Golf.
Herring is also the host of Talking Golf with Virgil Herring on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, and is author of The Golf Journal: Improving Your Game, a statistical-based journal that helps you identify where you are losing strokes on the course and then provides a game plan to get those strokes back.
