Doak’s monthly contributions include critiques of golf courses worldwide and exclusive book excerpts
ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2016) – The leading online source for golf course ratings and reviews, Golf Advisor, is featuring acclaimed golf course architect and author Tom Doak as a special contributor, providing original content about golf courses and destinations seen during his travels, as well as exclusive excerpts from “The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses,” his five-volume set of books covering more than 2,500 of the world’s best courses.
Doak is among the most prolific golf course architects in the modern era, known for his work on such masterpieces as Pacific Dunes Golf Club in Bandon, Ore., Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., Cape Kidnappers Resort in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand; and The Renaissance Club in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland. “The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses,” originally published in 1996, became a cult hit among golfers for Doak’s honest and, oftentimes, critical assessments of golf courses around the world. The new and expanded five-volume series, written with co-authors Darius Oliver, Ran Morrissett and Masa Nishiima, features new analysis and imagery of more golf courses than ever before.
“Tom Doak’s expertise, both as an architect and golfer who has traveled the world, will provide a great perspective to Golf Advisor readers looking not only to learn more about golf course design, but also about great golf destinations around the world,” said Brandon Tucker, managing editor of Golf Advisor.
Doak’s contributions already appearing on Golf Advisor include a profile of 2016 U.S. Open Championship host Oakmont Country Club, as well as a look at some of his favorite, hidden gems in Scotland. More information about his books can be found at www.RenaissanceGolf.com.
