Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 25, 2016) – Eleven Golf Channel Academy coaches are among the 100 Best Young Teachers in America, according to an article featured in the November issue of Golf Digest magazine.
The group of top instructors under the age of 40 includes teachers from New York to California in the 2016-17 list. Among the Golf Channel Academy (GCA) lead coaches to make the list were Jason Birnbaum (Jason Birnbaum Golf, Manhattan Woods G.C., West Nyack, N.Y.), Travis Fulton (Golf Channel Academy with Travis Fulton, World Golf Village, St. Augustine, Fla.), Anders Mattson (Saratoga National G.C., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Jason Sedan (Fore Door Golf, Lake Winnipesaukee G.C., New Durham, N.H.).
Birnbaum and Fulton are making their third appearance on the biennial list, which debuted in 2010. This is the first appearance for Mattson and Sedan.
“The Golf Digest under 40 instructor list has meant a great deal to me over the years. To be recognized with such a talented group of young teachers is truly an honor and has tremendously helped grow my business,” said Fulton. “To be at the forefront, and to share it with a great group of my Golf Channel Academy coaching colleagues is really exciting.”
Additional GCA staff coaches receiving their first recognition on the list include:
• Jason Barry (Jason Birnbaum Golf, Manhattan Woods G.C., West Nyack, N.Y.)
• Justin Foster (Bull’s Bridge G.C., South Kent, Conn.)
• Tyrus York (High Performance Golf Academy, Lexington, Ky.)
• Kiel Alderink (Todd Sones Impact Golf, Vernon Hills, Ill.)
• Tyler Ferrell (Mike McGetrick Golf Academy, Humble, Texas)
• Aaron Olson (MTT Performance, Poppy Hills GC, Pebble Beach, Calif.)
• Kevin Shimomura (Ko Olina Golf Academy, Honolulu, HI)
“We’re elated that so many of our outstanding coaches have been recognized by Golf Digest,” said Todd Wilson, CEO of Golf Channel Academy. “Golf Channel Academy is all about assisting the best teachers in the game to grow their businesses, and to have so many of our younger coaches included in this prestigious list validates the quality of our coaches and the trajectory their careers are headed.”
Golf Digest’s editors surveyed PGA and LPGA sections nationwide, teachers from their state and national rankings and tour players to assemble their list, and also looked at each candidate’s accomplishments and student successes, and personal references. The selected nominees were then categorized into six regions: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and West.
