PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL, USA – (Oct. 27, 2016) GOLFZON (www.golfzonsimulator.com), a global leader in golf simulators, has partnered with the Executive Women’s Golf Association (www.ewga.com) to introduce a new tournament concept, the “Tournament Within a Tournament,” during the EWGA Cup November 8-12, 2016 at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA.
For the first time, the “Tournament Within a Tournament” concept combines actual two days of Singles and Four-Ball Team Match Play with a golf simulator competition held simultaneously in The Westin’s Celebrity Ballroom. The Troon Golf-operated Pete Dye and Gary Player Signature Courses will host the 400-participant field, consisting of teams of eight women from various EWGA Chapters across the United States. The stand-alone simulator competition will award its eight-player Team Champions over a three-hole (Pebble Beach Golf Links’ famous 16th, 17th and 18th holes) alternate-shot competition on three Golfzon simulators with points awarded for separate Long Drive and Closest to the Hole contests. The combined points earned from the alternate-shot event and the skill competitions determine the winners.
“GOLFZON is excited to work with the EWGA to introduce the ‘Tournament Within a Tournament’ concept at the EWGA Cup,” said Tommy Lim, CEO of GOLFZON America Inc. “We look forward to engaging with EWGA Cup participants as they use our golf simulators for the first time and experience the wide range of features showcasing precision and accuracy. This type of combined format will lead to more vibrant competitive events in the future and has the ability to enliven professional pro-ams looking to generate increased interest and participation levels. GOLFZON’s long-standing company philosophy of making golf more enjoyable for everyone is evidenced by the pre-event excitement generated. ”
“Bringing together such a diverse and passionate group of women, EWGA members will turn up the heat in the desert as they compete for the coveted cup in the fastest growing association-wide event,” said Pam Swensen, EWGA CEO. “We are thankful for GOLFZON’s partnership with our organization and specifically their introduction of the game-enhancing simulators. Adding the excitement of the Tournament of Champions, the “Tournament Within A Tournament” concept will leave an indelible mark on the industry.”
In addition, the Mark Carnevale Show on Sirius/XM Radio (www.themarkcarnevaleshow.com), will air live from the EWGA Cup on Thursday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov. 11 (4-6 p.m., PST/7-9 EST each day). Carnevale, the 1992 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, will interview GOLFZON executives, EWGA Cup participants and Troon Golf personnel during his two-day, on-site show. Tune in to hear about GOLFZON during Mark’s regularly scheduled show airing in November. The Mark Carnevale Show is available on Sirius 208 and XM 92.
GOLFZON displayed its golf simulators widely this summer as a part of the company’s long-standing philosophy to help others in need and by making golf enjoyable for everyone. A simulator was donated in mid-August to the Roy W. Roberts II Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club in inner-city Los Angeles. LPGA star Alison Lee, a GOLFZON Ambassador, was on hand for the presentation along with nine-time All-Star basketball guard Chris Paul, whose foundation has benefitted the facility. In mid-September, Ryder Cup week began with the donation of a simulator to PGA REACH, the philanthropic arm of the PGA of America, for use by the Minneapolis location for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Derek Sprague, the President of the PGA of America, spoke to open the Veterans & Family Golf Clinic on Monday, Sept. 26 and recognized GOLFZON YUWON GROUP Chairman Young Chan Kim for the company’s contribution.
