(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) – The Sea Pines Resort – Hilton Head’s most celebrated golf and leisure retreat – announces the opening dates of its three championship golf courses following the clean-up after Hurricane Matthew.
The new Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III course opens on Monday, Oct. 31. The work of Love Golf Design, Atlantic Dunes is a complete reconstruction of the resort’s historic Ocean Course, the first on Hilton Head. Love, the 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, lead architect Scot Sherman and Mark Love have fashioned entirely rebuilt holes to accommodate modern shot values and frame scenic corridors.
Heron Point by Pete Dye will open on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The layout is currently ranked No. 11 in GOLF Magazine’s “Best Courses Near You in South Carolina.” It was also named 2015’s “Golf Course of the Year” by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association.
Famed Harbour Town Golf Links, home of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing, is scheduled to open a bit later in November. The course is ranked No. 9 in GOLF Magazine’s 2016-17 “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” in the U.S. and No. 2 in GOLF’s “Best You Can Play Near You” in South Carolina.
“Our golf maintenance crew has done a first-rate job getting our three layouts back to pristine shape,” says Cary Corbitt, Vice President of Sports and Operations. “We’re thrilled our members, property owners and resort guests will soon be back to enjoying 54 holes of world-class golf.”
All of the resort’s operations including The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, Harbour Town Clubhouse, Plantation Golf Club and Sea Pines Beach Club have been open for several weeks. Links, an American Grill at the Harbour Town Clubhouse, The Plantation Club’s “Live Oak” bar and grill featuring Lowcountry cuisine and Coast, oceanfront dining at the Beach Club, are also fully operational and welcoming guests.
Additionally, The Sea Pines Resort’s 400 rental homes and villas offered for guest accommodations all were available shortly after the storm passed through and are vacation ready.
