Newnan, Ga. (November 10, 2016) – Yamaha Golf-Car Company has announced the promotion of Matt Jones to YamaTrack Product Manager, according to company president, Tom McDonald.

The appointment of Jones signals Yamaha’s increasing commitment of resources to the company’s new YamaTrack technology launched in January at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show.

YamaTrack is a GPS solution that gives a golf course an affordable and innovative golf car fleet management tool. YamaTrack also allows a golfer to engage with the course and the golf shop through a smartphone app and/or a golf car-mounted GPS screen, both of which provide yardage measurements, hole flyovers, pro tips, two-way messaging with the shop, and many other features.

“Yamaha is very fortunate to have someone with Matt’s enthusiasm and background to lead the expansion of the YamaTrack system within the golf industry,” remarked McDonald.

For the last five years Jones has served as Yamaha’s district sales manager for the southern Texas territory stretching from Nacogdoches to Houston to Brownsville. Prior to that, he was director of golf at Cross Timbers Golf Club in Azle, Texas. From 2005-2009 he was director of golf at Koasati Pines at Coushatta, a highly ranked resort destination in Kinder, LA.

A Class A member of the PGA of America, Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in New Orleans.
