WINTER PARK, Fla., an internationally recognized ICMA Excellence Award winner with accredited fire-rescue, police and parks & recreation agencies (November 10, 2016) – Tomorrow, Friday, November 11, 2016, at 10 a.m., the City of Winter Park will present its 6th Annual Veterans Day Celebration -“Honoring Winter Park Heroes.” This event will be held in honor of all of veterans that have served in any military campaign or branch in honor of our nation’s freedom. The celebration will take place at the Winter Park Community Center Ruby Ball Amphitheatre located at 721 W. New England Ave. The program will include remarks by guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Mark E. Green, Inspector General for the 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary).
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the VFW Post 2093 Community Band will be entertaining guests as they visit with organizations and services that offer resources specifically for veteran needs. At 10 a.m., the official program will begin with musical tributes, anecdotal speakers including Lt. Colonel Green, and recognition of veterans according to the various military branches served. This annual event pays tribute to their dedicated service to our country, and the community is invited to join us in honoring these distinguished men and women.
The Veterans Day Celebration continues at the newly renovated, nine-hole Winter Park Golf Course, located at 761 Old England Ave., with a Veterans Golf Play Day. Tee times begin at 12:30 p.m., walk-ins welcome, and veterans play for FREE.
