Volunteering At The Genesis Open Is More Than A Job

November 11, 2016

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – For Branden Augustus, volunteering at the Genesis Open is more than just work; it’s an experience. While working in golf is his nine-to-five job, spending his time at The Riviera Country Club each February has become a tradition unlike any other.

“My everyday job has me running tournaments and finding and organizing volunteers from our events, so volunteering at the Genesis Open has helped me in my daily job,” Augustus said.

For more than 10 years, Augustus has worked for the City of Los Angeles in their golf division. He started his career as an assistant manager at the Rancho Park Golf Course and now runs the division’s tournaments and special events.

“I became involved about three years ago with the Genesis Open and have been volunteering as an Ambassador ever since,” Augustus said. “It’s a great time on course as a volunteer. It’s not a party but you can have a really fun time getting to interact with the fans and watching the golf.”

Augustus is one of more than 1,000 volunteers that dedicate their time to help the success of the Genesis Open. As a chairman of the Ambassador Committee, Augustus and his committee help to welcome and provide general information to spectators at the Main Entrance and at various locations throughout the course.

Volunteers at the Genesis Open contribute to more than 20 different committees assisting with everything from keeping score, directing foot traffic, transporting players to and from the course, and collecting tournament social media content from on-site events. Volunteer positions are still available for the 2017 Genesis Open, to be held February 13-19, 2017 at The Riviera Country Club. Prospective volunteers can learn more and register at GenesisOpen.com/Volunteer.
