Largest global golf initiative for women draws support from International Federation of Golf and the World Golf Foundation

New York, NY (November 14, 2016) — The 2017 International Women’s Golf Day (WGD) has been set for Tuesday June 6. This one day, four-hour golf experience for women and girls is open to all interested participants around the globe.

WGD is a global golf initiative designed to introduce women to the game in a fun and inclusive way. The event includes a two-hour golf lesson or a 9-hole round of golf plus a two-hour networking experience where attendees socialize and learn more about upcoming golf clinics and classes within their community.

“Last year we were able to fulfill our mission to engage, empower, and support women and girls through golf,” said Women’s Golf Day Founder Elisa Gaudet. “It is an event that transcends language, culture, religion and race, and is a true celebration of golf, women and community.”

The WGD initiative has the support of several allied golf associations including the International Golf Federation and the World Golf Foundation. “We are extremely pleased with the results of the Women’s Golf Day initiative,” said Steve Mona, CEO of the World Golf Foundation. “Women are important to the future of golf and have increased their participation in recent years. They are economic influencers and play a critical role as decision makers within the family unit and in the marketplace, too.”

Because of the initiatives success thousands of women and girls have picked up a golf club and are now participating in the sport. During last year’s event 485 locations in 28 countries attracted a multitude of highly enthused participants.

To register as a 2017 WGD participant or as a host venue (open to public/private golf courses, practice ranges, retail facilities) or to find out more info including a video recap of the 2016 event, visit the Women’s Golf Day website: http://womensgolfday.com/ or email: info@womensgolfday.com.
