PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C., Nov. 14, 2016 – At 9 a.m. this morning, 324 golfers hit the greens at True Blue Golf Club, among other courses, to mark the start of the third annual Myrtle Beach Fall Classic. Tomorrow, golfers will head to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club for a warmer, sunnier day of golf.
With temperatures in the mid-60s, this week is a true escape for golfers who live in areas where the golf season has already ended due to cold weather. The bonus? They are playing quality, 4+ star courses four days in a row. What could be better?
While all 12 of the courses are highly regarded in the local arena, some are also nationally acclaimed, such as True Blue Golf Club and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, which were both ranked in “GOLF” magazine’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play for the second time in a row.
“We’re excited to be involved in this sold-out tournament, especially knowing that some of the golfers have traveled from as far as Hawaii and Canada – that really speaks to how fun this annual tournament is for the participants,” said Bob Seganti, PGA director of golf operations for Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club. “The Myrtle Beach Fall Classic gives all of the courses involved an opportunity to be recognized on a national level with so many visiting golfers. It’s a tournament that will surely give the participants something to brag about to their buddies back home.”
After the Best Ball and Texas Scramble formats, golfers will play a Combined Team Net format at Thistle Club, Long Bay and Glen Dornach, and finish the tournament with a regular Scramble format at Grande Dunes Resort Course, Tidewater and Barefoot Resort – Norman. The awards dinner Thursday night wraps up the week of great play. The event will be held at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes with an open bar, dinner and the anticipated awards presentation.
