Volvik staff player Chella Choi earned her 5th Top 10 finish and 13th Top 25 finish of the 2016 season Sunday with a T7 finish at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico.
Choi played her Orange S3 golf ball to a 69-69-71-69 10 under par showing at the annual LPGA Tour event.
Fellow Volvik staff player Pornanong Phatlum finished t12th at the event, shooting 7 under par with her Pink S3 95-compression golf ball. She also earned her 5th Top 10 of the 2016 season in Mexico.
Both players enter the final event of the LPGA Tour season this week at the CME Group Tour Championship in good position in the Race to the CME Globe point standings that will pay off the player at the top of the standings after this week $1 Million. The CME Group Tour Championship is being played at the newly renovated Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Fla.
Choi enters the event 31st in the Race to the CME with 1,309 points while Phatlum enters the event ranked 25th with 1,435 points. A total of 72 players qualified for the event, based on points. Once the field has been determined the points will be reset. The top nine players in the Race for the CME Globe standings will have a mathematical chance to be crowned the season long CME Race to the Globe champion.
Volvik staff players have earned eight Top 5 finishes, 14 Top 10 finishes and 23 Top 25 finishes this season on the LPGA Tour.
Phatlum ranks 5th and Choi ranks 10th in driving accuracy on the 2016 LPGA Tour, a trait that the S3 golf ball has become well known for.
