PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL, USA – (Nov. 17, 2016) GOLFZON (www.golfzonsimulator.com), a global leader in golf simulators, had a rousing start to its “Tournament Within A Tournament” concept in partnership with the Executive Women’s Golf Association (www.ewga.com) during last week’s EWGA Cup at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA.
The EWGA Cup’s annual eight-player team competition, with a total field of 400 players from EWGA Chapters across the United States, was supplemented by golf simulator competition using a two-person, alternate-shot format over the final three holes at Pebble Beach Golf Links and long drive and closest to the pin contests. The Green Gang, from Portland, Ore., won the simulator competition, followed by the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Chip-ins and the Birdie Badgers of Madison, Wisc. The new golf simulator concept was further validated by The Green Gang’s victory in the on-course 2015 EWGA Cup and by the Birdie Badgers’ EWGA Cup first-place finish last week over the Troon Golf-operated Pete Dye and Gary Player Signature Courses.
“After one or two shots, the golf simulator was almost addictive,” Beverly Howard, a team member of The Green Gang, said on The Mark Carnevale Show on Sirius/XM Radio, which aired live from the site last Thursday and Friday. “I really wanted more turns after we competed.”
“I really appreciated how realistic the GOLFZON simulators were,” said Jen Piper, the captain of The Green Gang. “It really had a feel for the wind direction and aiming. It made me feel like I was actually experiencing Pebble Beach.”
“GOLFZON was excited to have the opportunity to display our golf simulators to the EWGA in a competitive atmosphere and we were thrilled to see their enthusiastic response,” said Tommy Lim, CEO of GOLFZON America Inc. “We appreciate the hospitality that the EWGA and Troon showed to our team in California. We look forward to working with both of these groups again and showing pro-ams and other competitive events that our golf simulators and the ‘Tournament Within A Tournament’ concept can build on our company philosophy of making golf more enjoyable for everyone.”
“Four hundred women descended upon Westin Mission Hills Resort last weekend for the EWGA Cup Finals to play 36 holes of team competition and walked away with a great on-course playing experience plus a real exciting indoor ‘Tournament Within A Tournament’ competition from GOLFZON,” EWGA CEO Pam Swensen said. “This first-of-its-kind event brought a spirited excitement and extra layer of enthusiastic competition to the overall event weekend. Three Golfzon simulators were in constant use by members testing their match-play strategies and skills challenge abilities. There were high-fives happening all over the place.”
