ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 22, 2016) – Anders Mattson, recognized by Golf Digest magazine as one of the rising young teaching professionals in the game today, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive November 29 and 30.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. Eastern.
Mattson, director of instruction at Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Mattson is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“It’s an honor to be a guest on Morning Drive,” said Mattson, 36, who was recently named to Golf Digest magazine’s list of the 100 “Best Young Teachers in America” for 2016-’17. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches and I look forward to sharing some of my favorite tips and playing lessons with the viewers at home.”
In addition to being selected as one of the top instructors nationwide under the age of 40, Mattson is ranked among the “Best Teachers” in the state of New York, as rated by his peers in Golf Digest. He was also selected as the 2014 and 2015 Northeastern N.Y. PGA Teacher of the Year.
An accomplished player, Mattson joined Saratoga National in 2002 shortly after graduating from Furman University in South Carolina. After earning his Class A certification with the PGA in 2009, he captured the 2009 NENY PGA Stroke Play Championship and was runner-up in the same event a year later. Mattson added his second sectional major in 2014, capturing the NENY PGA Match Play Championship with a 6 & 5 victory in the final.
As a Golf Channel Academy coach, Mattson continues to teach the way he knows best. The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy is that the best golf “teaching” is done through “coaching” – that is, an on-going relationship between player and teacher devoted to long-lasting improvement.
