(RANCHO CUCAMONGA) – Nexbelt®, “The Fastest Growing Belt in Golf”, announced today that PGA Tour Player, William McGirt has joined its team of Staff Professionals for the 2016/17 season.
William McGirt grew up playing baseball and golf in the small town of Fairmont, North Carolina. He had his first official golf lesson at the age of 15 at Pinehurst Resort, and fell in love with the game. He earned baseball and golf scholarships to colleges in North Carolina and South Carolina. After being recruited by several schools in two different sports, he decided to attend Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, to focus on golf. After college, McGirt won the 2003 North Carolina Amateur and the 2003 Cardinal Amateur. Following these wins, he made the decision to turn professional and pursue golf as a career. He spent years playing several mini-tours and spent the 2010 season on the Nationwide Tour. He finished T-2 at the 2010 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament which secured his PGA TOUR card for the first time. In 2007, William McGirt thought he hit it big when he won the Cabarrus Classic and pocketed $16,000.00, the second-largest prize on the Tar Heel Tour. He topped that payday in 2016 when he captured his first PGA Tour victory at The Memorial Tournament and collected a paycheck for $1.53 million dollars. He is currently ranked 48th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
McGirt will be wearing a Nexbelt throughout the 2016/17 PGA Tour season and Nexbelt will be allowed to use his name and likeness for promotional purposes as well.
