Sacramento, CA- The California Golf Course Owners Association (CGCOA) is very happy to recognize Dawn Prebula, Senior Vice President for VGM Club, Resorts & Gaming, as the winner of the 2016 CGCOA Ted Horton Distinguished Service Award.
The prestigious award was created in the name of Ted Horton, who provided stellar service to the CGCOA for many years, and remains involved today. The award recognizes overall service to the CGCOA, serving on the Board of Directors or Advisory Board, active committee participation, hosting and/or assisting in the planning of events, promotion of CGCOA programs and initiatives, and sponsorship participation and/or encouraging others to lend support. Prebula was presented the award at the 2016 CGCOA Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony held recently at Summitpointe Golf Club (Milpitas, CA).
Ms. Prebula possesses a wealth of management expertise within the hospitality industry. Having held senior posts with Hilton, Sheraton and Marriott Hotels, she has in-depth experience in procurement and supply-chain management, contract negotiation and strategic sourcing, cost-containment, compliance, and in catering and conference management.
She has put that experience to work on behalf of the CGCOA and its members as a longtime member of the CGCOA Advisory Board, presenting at CGCOA Educational Conferences, taking an active role in the planning, budgeting and implementation of CGCOA events, and assisting with recruitment of CGCOA sponsorships.
As Vice President of Supply Management Services for American Golf Corporation, Dawn created the department and managed all national contracts, resulting in more than $4 million in contract improvements in one year alone.
In her current role at VGM Club, Resorts & Gaming, she has spearheaded numerous innovative member and supplier programs resulting in consistent improvement in the company’s annual performance.
Ms. Prebula is a frequent speaker at industry related events such as Golf Inc. and in addition to CGCOA has presented workshops for various associations, including HFTP, CMAA, and the Association of Private Clubs and Directors, among others.
She is a member of the Institute for Supply Management, and a founding member of the Southern California Foodservice Purchasing Council (now called The Chain Gang). She is a past president of Women in Business Los Angeles, and the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives.
Dawn Prebula attended the College of General Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and was enrolled in the School of Music at the University of Southern California prior to embarking on a career in business. She has attended many classes to enhance her own career, covering a wide range of topics, including time management, sales techniques, food artistry, menu development, and contract negotiations, to name a few.
During her Hilton tenure, she participated in a 2-week Quality Control Program taught at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.
