Volvik Staffer and Professional Long Drive Athlete Maurice Allen won the Czech Republic LDET Championship July 9th on the Volvik Long Drive European Tour using Volvik golf balls. He won in the finals with best shots of 376 yards and 368 yards and had advanced to the finals by smashing drives of 438 yards, 428 yards and 420 yards, making him the only competitor to break 400 yards in the event.
This is the 2nd win of the LDET season for Allen on the LEDT after winning the Holland LDET Championship in June with a best hit of 376 and 367 yards.
In 2015, Allen finished 1st in the LDET final standings by 1600 points. He finished with three victories at the Sweden LDET Championship, the Belgium LDET Championship and the Italy LDET Championship. He also had two 2nd place finishes and two 3rd place finishes, giving him 6100 total points to capture the 2015 championship.
“To be able to use a Volvik golf ball in tournament play, the ball I play by choice, brought everything home for me,” said Allen. “To be able to play a top-tier, tour-quality golf ball in different colors really made a difference for the LDET the past two seasons. Distances have gone way up and seeing the ball in the air is much easier not due to the color, so judging the distances is now 100% accurate. The Vista iV provides a lower ball flight that penetrates into the wind and it’s a 4-piece ball that has a low driver spin. It’s the perfect ball for long drive”
The LDET has been sponsored by Volvik the past two years and Volvik became the title sponsor in 2015. At every event, different color Volvik Vista iV golf balls are used by the long drivers. Volvik also recently announced that it has been named the official golf ball of World Long Drive and that its Vista iV 4-piece golf ball will be used by all Long Drive competitors in the 2016 World Long Drive Championship – airing in primetime on Golf Channel October 11-12 – and the six regional qualifiers leading up to the Championship. The 2016 World Long Drive Championship will be held October 6-12, 2016, with three divisions (Open, Ladies and Masters) at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla. The winner of the Open Division will receive $125,000.
The Vista iV is the only 4-piece ball in the world manufactured in Orange, Green and Pink. The four-piece ball has proven itself as a player’s ball with optimal distance. The ball is being used by a handful of touring pros, including former Masters champion Craig Stadler. The Vista iV features a Dual Core with a soft outer layer and hard inner core, which creates more energy transfer from the club face to the ball. A unique metal called bismuth is used to create elasticity and explosiveness in the core. The cover features Zirconium, an extremely strong metal, which Volvik says adds durability without sacrificing spin control. The Vista iV has 392 dimples and a 95 compression and is available in Orange, Green, Pink, Yellow, White and in an assorted dozen.
