Overview
The ladies outerwear grouping continues to grow each season, as it has now become one of Antigua’s best and easiest-selling items. And the 2017 Collection features some truly inviting styles.
“A few of my personal favorites are Boost, Curio and Heiress,” says Danielle Dellios, Antigua women’s designer. “Boost features a fleeced back jacquard fabric with a flat face. The face of the fabric mixes color with black heather, giving the garment a more sophisticated feel and tones down the bright primary color. A reflective zipper detail keeps with the athletic trend in the marketplace. Curio is one of the more unique jacket styles in the collection, with it’s two-color jacquard triangle pattern sleeves and collar. Its front body uses a solid color peached jersey fabric and the side insets sport a black heather jersey that coordinates with the triangle pattern on the sleeve. This style really lends itself to the lifestyle trend.
I always run a few vest styles in the collection, and this season we decided a puff vest would be a good addition to the line. Heiress features a medium-weight poly-fill, so it can be more in multiple climates. Quilting on the sides is angled to give the wearer the illusion of a more-defined waistline. Front and back panels use a zig-zag quilting pattern, instead of the traditional box patterns that most puff vests use.”
Fabrications
DESERT DRY™ is a moisture-wicking technology created exclusively for Antigua, to absorb and wick moisture quickly and evenly. The Desert Dry product family includes any garment using a fabric weight of 150 gsm or heavier. Typically fabrics over 150 gsm offer more body and improved drape for the customers who don’t like the ultra-lightweight “clingy” fabrics currently in the market. Examples of Desert Dry styles are Jewel, Array, Haven, Sequence, Rogue, Praise, Hype, Accelerate, S/L Jewel, Cinch Skort, Network short and the Sway skort.
DESERT DRY™ XTRA-LITE (D2XL) combines Antigua’s exclusive DESERT DRY™ moisture-wicking feature with specially constructed ultra-light fabrics for maximum wicking performance and optimum comfort. The D2XL product family includes any garment using a fabric weight of 150 gsm or lighter. These fabrics have been specially engineered to be lightweight while not being overly sheer. This is possible through the use of ultra-fine yarns which gives a fabric more body while not dramatically increasing the weight. Examples of D2XL styles are Trust, Mischief and Avail.
