(PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.) – PGA Golf Club – the flagship property of the PGA of America – was recently named among the top five “Most Improved Courses of the Year” by Golf Inc. magazine.
The south Florida semi-private club nearly topped the list of award-winning properties whose exciting renovations sparked remarkable financial gains in the past year. The inaugural competition garnered entries from private and public clubs around the world.
Golf Inc. praised PGA Golf Club for capital investments that helped increase membership by 10.5%, impressive given its location in a region rich with private clubs. As part of that investment, the acclaimed Dye Course recently underwent an extensive re-grassing project, greens expansion and bunkers restoration. The enhanced conditions have met with rave reviews from members and guests as the Pete Dye-designed layout is in the best shape ever.
Additionally, a multi-million dollar renovation to the clubhouse and similar re-grassing project to the Wanamaker Course has participation in social and golf events up 150% and member satisfaction at an all-time high.
“This honor is testament to our amazing team and the work they do here every day,” says PGA Senior General Manager Jimmy Terry. “The course renovations and clubhouse expansion are shining examples of the investment being made at PGA Golf Club to produce one of Florida’s top golf and social experiences.”
The Golf Inc. honor comes on the heels of PGA Golf Club’s Wanamaker and Dye courses being named among the best courses in Florida on several national lists. Golfweek ranked the courses Nos. 16 and 27, respectively, on its annual “Best: State-by-State Courses You Can Play” list, while GOLF Magazine placed them Nos. 23 and 30 on its 2016 edition of the “Best Courses Near You.”
