Sarasota, FL. – TPC Prestancia, a Heritage Golf Group property is proud to announce the club raised over $75,000 at The Audi of Sarasota Golf Tournament benefitting Birdies for the Brave® on Monday, November 7, 2016. Proceeds from the tournament benefit PGA TOUR Charities, Inc.’s Birdies for the Brave®, a national military outreach initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for military Homefront charities that provide critical services to meet the specialized needs of military members, wounded veterans, and their families.
The club hosted The Audi Sarasota Golf Tournament benefitting Birdies for the Brave and had a full field of over 200 golfers playing two golf courses: Club Course & Stadium Course. The golf tournament commenced with a patriotic Opening Ceremony including National Anthem, Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and shotgun start. Each golf group consisted of a 5 person team including an active military serviceman. Following tournament play, the post-round reception featured a speech by guest speakers, retired Major Steven McLeary, Executive Director for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation along with special guest, Amanda Nabozny, & Brett Simon, Founder & Director of Canine Operations at K9s for Warriors accompanied by his dog, Reagan. Events included lunch for all participants, as well as a silent auction, raffles and prizes for the winners.

One of six Heritage Golf Group properties hosting an event benefitting Birdies for the Brave, TPC Prestancia has raised more than $350,000 for the Birdies for the Brave program. A primary element of its philanthropic endeavors, Heritage Golf Group has worked with club members, sponsors and local community leaders to raise more than $3 million for military Homefront charities since 2008.
Proceeds from the events benefit military Homefront groups that are supported by PGA TOUR players, including Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Naval SEAL Foundation, Operation Homefront; Military Warriors Support Foundation; Green Beret Foundation, United Through Reading, K9s For Warriors; Feherty’s Troops First Foundation, Operation Shower, Disabled Sports USA, and Homes for Our Troops.
