December 14, 2016 — The European Golf Course Owners Association (EGCOA) has recognized Women’s Golf Day (WGD) as recipient of its 2016 business development award. WGD, is a global player development initiative with primary focus on introducing women and girls to the game of golf through a welcoming clinic or 9-hole playing experience followed by a social networking opportunity.
EGCOA President Alexander Baron von Spoercken presented Women’s Golf Day Founder Elisa Gaudet with the special distinction at the association’s 2016 Golf Business Conference in Amsterdam. Also, recognized for its grow-the-game efforts was co-recipient Syngenta, creators of the love.golf program.
“On behalf of Women’s Golf Day, its ambassadors and hosts spanning the globe, I am honored to receive such a coveted award from the European Golf Course Owners Association,” said WGD Founder Elisa Gaudet, CEO of Executive Golf International. “We extend our thanks to all EGCOA members who were participating hosts in the 2016 Women’s Golf Day and we look forward to having them with us again for our second annual WGD June 6, 2017. Together, we can continue to growth the game of golf in a positive and powerful way.”
WGD had immense success in its inaugural year when more than 20,000 women and girls participated in the event which took place at more than 485 golf facilities in 28 countries on the very same day. The 2017 WGD event is set for Tuesday June 6.
