PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C., Dec. 21, 2016 – Golfers from around the world visit the Grand Strand to play two of the top ranked courses in the United States, and 2016’s highlights help explain why. It’s been a year full of accomplishments for Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club, from earning numerous accolades to introducing new user-friendly websites.
This past year was one of milestones, as the two highly regarded courses gained national attention and continued to add national rankings to their list of accolades, including:
• GOLF Magazine Top 100 Courses You Can Play
• GOLF Magazine Top courses to play in South Carolina
• Golfweek Top 100 Resort Courses, 2016 and 2017
• Golfweek’s Best: State-by-State Courses You Can Play
• South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel: Top 50 Courses in South Carolina
• South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel: Best Value
• No. 16 on Matt Ginella’s Top 50 Courses You Can Play: 20-11, Caledonia
• No. 41 on Matt Ginella’s Top 50 Golf Courses You Can Play: 50-31, True Blue
Along with extending their list of awards, True Blue and Caledonia were busy hosting a handful of local and national tournaments this year.
• In July, Caledonia hosted the annual First Tee of the Grand Strand Future Generations tournament, which brought Golf Channel personalities Kelly Tilghman and Charlie Rymer back to their home state to share their love of golf with local youth.
• In September, Caledonia and True Blue hosted the Golfweek Program Challenge tournament for the seventh consecutive year. Sixteen Division I teams traveled from 11 different states for this year’s tourney.
• In November, Caledonia and True Blue were two of 12 local courses to host over 300 golfers in this year’s sold out Myrtle Beach Fall Classic.
These award-winning courses also had exciting improvements off the green and on the web this year. After a website redesign, both courses now have their own websites as well as Caledonia Golf Vacations (Caledonia, True Blue, Caledonia Golf Vacations), which allows golfers to book their golf trips more efficiently. Some of the most exciting features on the new websites are the extensive video and photo libraries, links to partner sites like The Inlet Sports Lodge, Steve Dresser Golf Academy and the PGA. The site also features 3D flyover videos of each hole, which are also available on the Caledonia – True Blue app. Other features of the app include a GPS yardage guide, online tee times, grillroom menus and local weather.
“To say this year has been tremendous would be an understatement,” said Bob Seganti, PGA, director of golf operations for Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club. “We are thrilled with the achievements we have had at both Caledonia and True Blue courses and will continue to strive to provide our guests with the best possible experience at our courses going into 2017.”
