(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) – The Sea Pines Resort – host of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing held on its famed Harbour Town Golf Links – announces Tim Cooke, its director of golf instruction, has been honored in GOLF Magazine’s list of “Top 100 Teachers in America” for 2017-2018.
This is Cooke’s first inclusion on the prestigious biennial list which will appear in GOLF Magazine’s upcoming March issue. Since inception in 1991, the publication’s “Top Teachers in America” ranking has become the industry standard for teaching excellence due to the diligent selection process. More than 250 nominations on average are accepted from the country’s 25,000 instruction professionals.
No stranger to acclaim, this coveted national honor follows Cooke’s recognition as “Teacher of the Year” by the Carolinas PGA Section in 2014. The Carolinas Section is the largest of the PGA’s 41 sections with more than 2,000 professional members. Moreover, Golf Digest has continually ranked Cooke among its “Best Young Teachers” and top teachers in South Carolina.
Cooke’s instructional articles have been featured in numerous publications including Golf Tips, Golf Illustrated and Golf Digest. He has additionally made several guest appearances on Golf Channel’s “The Turn” as well as an instructional segment which ran Golf Channel.com’s “Weekly Fix.”
Cooke works out of the state-of-the-art Golf Learning Center at the 23,000-square-foot Plantation Golf Club, home to Golf Inc’s 2015 “New Clubhouse of the Year.” The clubhouse services the resort’s Heron Point by Pete Dye and new Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III courses.
“Tim is the main reason why our Golf Learning Center has garnered so much praise,” says Cary Corbitt, Vice President of Sports & Operations. “With three exceptional courses and world-class golf amenities including Tim’s expertise and passion in helping our members and guests improve their games, The Sea Pines Resort is in the upper echelon of premier golf facilities in the U.S.”
