About Tour Pro Tech, LLC
Tour Pro Tech, LLC was founded by award-winning PGA professional, Tim Tierney, and technology entrepreneur Rich Kosowsky.
Tierney, the teaching professional at Grey Oaks in Naples, Florida and Weston Golf Club in Weston, Massachusetts, is a respected instructor who was twice named the Massachusetts Teacher of the Year by the New England PGA and has over 20 years of teaching experience. He was mentored by the legendary Ken Venturi who taught him that “Golfers don’t get out of swing, they get out of position.” This simple concept is the basis for PowerPlane™, the company’s first product.
Tierney explained the concept to Rich Kosowsky, a golf enthusiast and MIT engineer. Kosowsky then created a device that utilizes high precision ultrasonics and patent-pending technology to monitor head movement in real-time using a small sensor attached to a golfer’s hat. Kosowsky’s background includes 30-plus years of management, technology development and financing expertise from successful companies such as Qualcomm, the wireless technology leader, and Four11 (Yahoo). He has founded and run numerous early-stage technology companies and has been mentoring start-ups for more than 14 years at MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service. Kosowsky holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from MIT and an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School.
