PHOENIX (Jan. 17, 2017) – PING today announced the signing of Australian
professional Brett Coletta, recently the sixth-ranked amateur in the world, to a multi-year agreement. As an amateur, he had a victory and a runner-up finish in pro tournaments in Australia, was T6 at the Australian PGA Championship in 2016, and was medalist at the 2015 U.S. Amateur.
The 20-year-old was a long-time member of the PING Australian Elite Amateur program. He will make his pro debut at this week’s SMBC Singapore Open and play the rest of the season on sponsor’s invites and qualifiers.
“This is a happy day for us and for Brett as he has achieved world-class results on the international amateur stage since we started working with him at age 15,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “We’ve gotten to know this young man very well and we like the way he approaches the game. He has immense talent and a terrific work ethic. We’re pleased that he’s turned pro and we look forward to watching him compete at the game’s highest levels.”
In Coletta’s bag: a G LS Tec driver, G 3-wood, Rapture driving iron, iBlade irons, Glide wedges, and a PING Vault Voss putter.
“PING and I have been a good fit for several years and this is really special, to be a pro with such a respected company,” Coletta said. “I’ve relied on PING clubs for years, so obviously I love the equipment and how it allows me to play with confidence so I can perform my best. PING reps have been very supportive and I look forward to continuing our relationship as I start an exciting new chapter in my professional life.”
As part of a multi-year agreement, Coletta will wear a PING hat, use a PING staff bag and play a minimum of 11 PING clubs, including a PING driver and PING putter.
Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed.
