A “final call” reminder to those on our internal contact list to RSVP for the upcoming presentation/webcast. Later this week, space available, we’ll open the invite via the trade press to “all comers” for any remaining seats. You’ve got first dibs for now, don’t wait!
I cordially invite you to join me for the 14th annual “State of the Industry” presentation at the 2017 PGA Merchandise Show in the Orange County Convention Center. We’ll once again host two in-person sessions with concurrent web streaming sessions. This year’s discussion will again be hosted by the International Network of Golf (ING) and held in their ClubING conference room, 309A & B on Thursday, January 26th. We’ll have two sessions: 10:30-11:30AM and 3:30-4:30PM (EST). I will be joined in preparing and conducting the discussion by perennial cohort-in-crime, Stuart Lindsay, Principal of Edgehill Golf Advisors.
Key topics of this year’s discussion will be:
• 2016 facility rounds results, up modestly but in the “neutral zone”
• 2016 Utilization, little changed, slight rounds uptick slightly lagging weather
• 2015 golfer base, 7th consecutive year of decline, no relief in rate of decline
• 2016 supply change, hovering near 1% annual reduction rate mark
• 2016 equipment sales, high-single digit declines amid significant disruption
• Age and Play Pattern shifts create subtle roadblocks for revenue growth
• How do we deal with Millenials? Is there a “Right Answer” or is it a “Trick Question?”
• Beacons and other tech toys, fad or fitting for future use?
Similar to last year’s two gatherings and webcast to just over 250 total known Pellucid sympathizers and guests, we anticipate a lively give-and-take discussion. The PGA has confirmed that they will once again award 1 MSR educational credit for PGA professionals attending or viewing and providing their member number.
We’re once again using the web for self-registration to the event. Below are the instructions to RSVP for the session of your choice and whether you’ll attend in-person or view the live streaming version. PGA Members please note that we’ve included a space to enter your Member # so you don’t have to do that at the door.

Space is limited to 125 attendees at each session and 100 concurrent participants for each of the web streaming sessions. Once again, we’d ask that if you’re bringing a group to limit it to no more than 3 participants in any one session. We’ll take reservations up until Monday January 23rd or we meet capacity, whichever comes first so if you’re interested I’d go up and click that URL now vs. later.
To reduce congestion at the door immediately prior to each session, we’re asking you to just drop your business card with Spring Green at the door (PGA Members if you didn’t provide your Member # during registration, this is your 2nd chance, just write it on your card before depositing).
For those attending only the Golf Business Conference Show (NGCOA) this year, we’ve been confirmed for a similar session on Wed. 2/8 from 4-5PM EST. More details to come on that, we’ll send a separate RSVP note for that in the next couple weeks (consider this your Save the Date notice for that event).
The full suite of reports (Presentation (.ppt), Commentary report (pdf.) and annual web access to the video recording) will be available for sale after the Orlando presentation. For first-time purchasers, the price is $249, for those purchasing last year’s report, the price for the ’16 “update” will remain at $199. We’ll send out more details on how to order after Orlando. As a “show special,” attendees (in-person and webcast) will be able to purchase the 45-50 PowerPoint slide presentation for $100, those at the show will receive it on a portable flash drive, webcast attendees via email, same day.
As always, our primary objective is to produce insight value worthy of your one hour time investment. We hope to see you there or have you participate in the webcast.
Regards,
Jim Koppenhaver
President, Pellucid Corp.
