PEBBLE BEACH, CA – Youth on Course – the non-profit providing youth with access to affordable golf, meaningful high school employment opportunities and college scholarships – will take center stage at this year’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, February 9-11, 2017.
In the spirit of the Pro-Am’s founder, Bing Crosby, Northern California Golf Association President Pat Quinn is leveraging his opportunity to play in the signature event to raise money for Youth on Course.
Quinn’s Brigade – a group of nearly 250 of Quinn’s biggest fans – will attend the event on February 11 to watch Quinn play at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The group has raised nearly $250,000 for Youth on Course to date.
Quinn, a former Board Chair and passionate supporter of Youth on Course since its inception in 2006, hatched the idea for Quinn’s Brigade with lifelong friend Bill Baron.
“The idea was to utilize my 2017 AT&T experience to raise awareness and funds for Youth on Course. The money raised will go to the programs that support our kids in Monterey County and throughout the Youth on Course network.” Quinn said.
Quinn and Baron contacted friends, relatives and corporate groups to get involved. The original goal of Quinn’s Brigade was to raise upwards of $100,000 by selling “sponsorships” in chunks of $5,000. The response has been overwhelming.
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tournament Director and Monterey Peninsula Foundation CEO Steve John has been supportive of Quinn’s Brigade and Youth on Course, helping with tickets to the event. Last year the Monterey Peninsula Foundation awarded Youth on Course a $500,000 grant to expand programs for Monterey County youth.
“We’ve followed Youth on Course almost since inception, and have watched it become one of the preeminent grow-the-game initiatives in golf,” said AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tournament Director Steve John. “Their mission and values align so well with our own, we’re eager to do all we can to bring national attention to such a worthy cause.”
The Quinn’s Brigade supporters will enjoy an all-access pass to the 2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on February 11. The package includes:
• Breakfast and cocktails at Porter’s in the Forest
• Free parking and shuttle transportation to and from Poppy Hills Golf Course
• Tickets to watch Quinn play next to the visiting pros and celebrities
• Dinner and cocktails
• Post-tournament event hosted by Golf Channel’s Matt Ginella
In addition to Quinn’s Brigade, attendees will also have the chance to learn more about Youth on Course by visiting the tournament’s Charity Deck near the No. 10 tee.
