POTOMAC FALLS, VA (Feb. 27, 2017) – The PGA of America announced today that a limited number of volunteer positions remain for the 2017 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, which will take place May 23-28 at Trump National Golf Club, Washington D.C.
Thanks to tremendous support from the local community, all but two volunteer committees are completely full. Those interested in volunteering should act quickly to secure their spot on one of two committees: the marshal committee and the transportation committee.
Marshals will be responsible for assisting with gallery control, enforcing the PGA’s cell phone policy and potentially aiding in contestant evacuations. General knowledge of the game of golf is recommended for these positions, but is not required. Volunteers who serve on the marshal committee will experience the Championship from a unique position inside the ropes.
Members of the transportation committee will assist the PGA of America staff with the distribution and collection of official Mercedes-Benz Championship vehicles, as well as providing transportation services to contestants and officials throughout Championship week. Members of this committee are required to have a valid driver’s license.
“The overall involvement and participation that we have seen from the local community and club members has been phenomenal,” said Championship Director Bryan Karns. “Our volunteers are the driving force behind running a major Championship and we are thrilled to provide these opportunities to be up close and personal with some of the world’s greatest players.”
Remaining volunteer positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The 2017 Volunteer Package is valued at more than $500 and includes:
• Ralph Lauren volunteer uniform (golf shirt, outerwear item and hat)
• Food and water vouchers to use at any on-course concession stand
• A copy of the official 2017 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championships program
• Complimentary parking
• A one-time discount at The Championship Shop
Volunteers will also receive a personalized Volunteer Credential, which provides access to the grounds for every day of the Championship.
The volunteer fee is $130 and also grants behind the scenes access to the Championship.
Interested individuals can find the application or additional information on volunteering at www.srpga.com or by emailing Volunteer Operations Manager Jessie Thompson at jthompson@pgahq.com.
