Requirements for membership are to have served in a combat theater and have an honorable discharge or still be on active duty. Tom Underdown, president of Fairways for Warriors (www.fairwaysforwarriors.org), outlined the work of the non-profit organization:
“Our mission is to help combat wounded warriors with their mental and physical rehabilitation,” Underdown said. “We define a combat wounded warrior as anyone who has served in a combat theater, whether a physical injury was sustained or not. We have found that the invisible wounds are usually more difficult to overcome. We welcome combat veterans from any era, and we have many Vietnam veterans in our program. We use the game of golf as one way to accomplish our mission.”
