PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (March 6, 2017) – PGA Golf Club, the 54-hole, flagship facility of the PGA of America, will showcase the iconic Ryder Cup Trophy inside its clubhouse beginning March 9, at 10 a.m.

The trophy will be exhibited through April 2, before it makes its next stop in May in Munich, Germany, during BMW Golfsport Week. Golf fans are encouraged take photos of the Ryder Cup and other memorabilia including a golf bag from the 2016 Ryder Cup and a life-size cutout of victorious Captain Davis Love III. The first 1,000 fans who share their photos and video on social media – tagging @PGAVillage and @rydercupusa, and using the hashtag #rydercup – will receive a commemorative gift.

“We’re thrilled about the opportunity to exhibit one of the most prestigious and iconic trophies in professional sports,” says Jimmy Terry, general manager at PGA Golf Club. “Guests of our club will have an extraordinary opportunity to get up-close and personal with the Ryder Cup.”

Standing 17½-inches high and weighing four pounds, the Ryder Cup trophy was donated by British seed merchant Samuel Ryder in 1927. The 9-carat gold trophy sits atop a wooden base, around which is a gold band where the scores of each Ryder Cup played are engraved.

One of the greatest sporting events founded on prestige rather than prize money, the Ryder Cup is a biennial competition pitting the best American professional golfers against those from Europe. The U.S. team leads the all-time series 26-13-2, including a 17-11 win over Europe last September at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. Earlier this year, Jim Furyk was named U.S. Captain for the 2018 Ryder Cup, which will be conducted at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, France, some 40 minutes southwest of Paris.

Getting There: PGA Golf Club is less than a two-hour drive from Orlando and Miami; and under three hours from Tampa, Fort Myers and other Florida population centers. Having been ranked among the “75 Best Golf Resorts” by Golf Digest, PGA Golf Club is conveniently located 50 minutes north of Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), off Interstate 95 in Port St. Lucie. PBI offers nearly 100 non-stop flights to more than 25 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Known as the “Ultimate Golf Resort Destination,” PGA Golf Club is home to four distinct golf courses at the facility and the nearby St. Lucie Trail Golf Club. The entertaining layouts were designed by renowned architects Tom Fazio, Jim Fazio and Pete Dye.
