Former sports journalist continues to thrive in 2nd career adding another TGA franchise
Orlando, FL – America’s fastest growing introductory youth golf program, a grassroots effort to bolster the future of golf continues to expand.
Dave Seanor, a former sports journalist and owner of TGA North Orlando, has acquired the South Orlando territory. With the consolidation of North and South, TGA of Orlando offers over 30 golf programs at public schools, private schools and community centers. To date, TGA programs in Orlando have impacted more than 5,000 kids through the introductory after-school enrichment programs.
“It only made sense to merge the Orlando chapters,” said Seanor. “It brings consistency in programming, marketing and execution of the TGA mission throughout Orange County Public Schools, which is the 11th largest public school system in the United States – and growing.”
Seanor believes TGA of Orlando has enormous growth potential and plans to eclipse 50 enrichment programs by the start of Fall 2017. With Orange County comprising 165 public elementary and middle schools, as well as an array of private schools TGA of Orlando could be in 100 locations by 2019.
“Consolidating North and South Orlando also helps us complete the TGA Player Pathway through the many golf courses located in the southern part of Orlando,” said Seanor. “We now have more potential partners to host TGA camps, leagues and play days, which are fantastic opportunities for our after-school enrichment students and their parents to take their games to the next level at the golf course.”
TGA’s Player Pathway, the first of its kind in the industry, is having a major economic impact on its more than 250 golf course partners nationwide. Once TGA students go through the introductory at-school programs, TGA transitions them and their families to partner golf courses through recreational programs such as camps, leagues and parent-child events. As a result, partner golf facilities gain increased traffic and revenues through green fees, food/beverage, and merchandise sales – as well as a highly visible, turn-key youth golf program.
TGA’s (Teach, Grow, Achieve) unique program breaks down the main barriers to golf entry by delivering introductory programs directly at schools and community centers through before- or after-school enrichment programs. The self-sustaining, no-funding-needed business model puts golf on a level playing field with other mainstream sports and creates a healthy, safe environment for students to learn the game of a lifetime. What differentiates TGA is the station-based curriculum that includes golf skill progression, education subjects and STEAM Labs, as well as physical fitness and health components.
“Orlando, of course, is known as a golf mecca,” said Seanor. “Yet what has struck me since joining TGA is the number of participants’ parents who are not golfers, but have enrolled their children in our programs because they’re familiar with golf’s values and its appeal as lifelong sport.”
“Parents appreciate the ease of attending classes at school, the professionalism of TGA coaches, the structure of our curriculum, and the consistency of our communication platform,” said Seanor. “I look forward to expanding that service throughout Orange County, which in turn will help boost golf’s popularity not only among children, but their Gen-X or Millennial parents, as well.”
TGA’s golf franchises have now grown to 65 markets in the United States, serving more than 3,300 schools and introducing more than 670,000 youth (ages 5-13) to the game.
