Georgia Golf & Travel LLC, home to The Georgia Golf Trail, is celebrating the start of their 5th year anniversary. Each April the PGA TOUR comes to Augusta Georgia for The Masters. Georgia Golf & Travel also starts their year in Augusta with their marketing programs that reach millions of golfers and travelers across the world each year. With the help of the State of Georgia Departments of Economic Development and Natural Resources, who are their partners, Georgia now has the world’s attention not only for their wonderful golf courses, but attractions, real estate, as well as interesting things that people would love to come and enjoy.
Georgia Golf & Travel founder Doug Hollandsworth had the vision over a decade ago to show the world what Georgia has to offer to vacationers. With the support of the Georgia’s Tourism Department, the Georgia Golf Trail was launched in April of 2013. Their goal was to ensure that the Peach State was promoted to vacationers not only to golfers but travelers who wanted to visit the home of legendary golfer, Georgia’s own native Bobby Jones.
The mission of the Georgia Golf & Travel programs is to increase travel and visitor expenditures throughout all of Georgia and market the state as one of the leading golf destinations in the world, through travel programs aimed at reaching the golfer who travels and brings their family with them.
“The programs that Georgia Golf & Travel are doing is a much higher brand awareness of Georgia as a premier golf vacation destination. Home to some of the most challenging and picturesque courses in the world, Georgia also offers courses that are family-friendly, affordable and approachable. These new programs will enable us to share these great experiences with golfers/travelers across the country and around the world” said Kevin Langston, Deputy Commissioner for Tourism for the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
Founder Doug Hollandsworth states,” Years ago I had the vision of promoting Georgia to the world as a golf destination, not only for the great golf, but our many other attractions that our state has to offer travelers. From the mountains, to Atlanta, to the Lake area, to the Coast, Georgia has so much to offer the world has never seen before.” Hollandsworth continued, “Everyone knows about The Masters, but that is only for one week and at a golf course not many people can play. We wanted to show people across the world that Georgia is a great place to come play golf, vacation with their families and live if they choose to. We are so excited about starting our 5th year here on the Trail and we have exciting things coming in the near future so travelers can see more about what Georgia has to offer.”
