Volvik announced today that it has re-signed Champions Tour player and Masters Champion Craig Stadler to a one-year endorsement contract. Stadler will continue playing the Volvik ball on the Champions Tour, wearing a Volvik hat at all golf events and Volvik will feature Stadler as an ambassador to Volvik at certain events and special appearances.
Stadler won 13 times on the PGA TOUR, including the 1982 Masters, and has nine wins on the Champions Tour, including a victory at the 2013 Encompass Championship.
Stadler re-joins two other Volvik staff players on the Champions Tour, John Huston and Tim Petrovic.
Stadler and his son Kevin played at the 2014 Masters as the first ever father-son combo in the event’s 81-year history. It was Stadler’s 38th Masters. He has earned five Top 10 finishes at The Masters in that time span. He played a Green Vista iV 4-piece ball by Volvik at the Par 3 contest every year and was looking to play the new VIVID XT in Green ball there this year before the event was cancelled due to weather.
He’s played in one Champions Tour event with his Volvik Vista iV so far this year and finished T43 at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.
“Craig Stadler has been instrumental in getting the Volvik name out there for the past four years and we’re proud to say that we are continuing with Craig as an ambassador to Volvik,” said Volvik National Director of Sales and Marketing Jon Claffey.
Stadler was born in San Diego, CA in 1953. His father started him in golf at age four and he excelled at the game early in childhood. He won the 1973 U.S. Amateur, while attending the University of Southern California, where he was an All-American all four years. Stadler turned professional in 1976.
He won his first two PGA Tour events in 1980 at the Bob Hope Desert Classic and the Greater Greensboro Open. His career year came in 1982 when he won four PGA Tour events including The Masters. Later in his PGA TOUR career, Stadler won the B.C. Open in 2003, becoming the first player over age 50 to win a PGA TOUR event in 28 years. He also played on the 1983 and 1985 Ryder Cup teams.
