ORLANDO, Fla. (April 11, 2017) – Accomplished PGA teaching professional Fred Griffin, one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers in America,” is scheduled to appear Wednesday and Thursday as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive.
The popular daily morning show airs this week on Wednesday from 7-9 a.m. ET and on Thursday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. ET.
Griffin, director of the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf in Orlando, Fla., is one of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select Golf Channel Academy coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including The Golf Fix and School of Golf; Griffin is making his second appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m excited to be appearing on Morning Drive once again,” said Griffin, who has been with Grand Cypress (formerly the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf) since the Academy opened in 1986. “It’s been my lifelong passion to help golfers play their best, and I look forward to sharing some of my favorite tips and playing lessons with the viewers at home.”
The 1988 North Florida PGA Section Teacher of the Year, Griffin has been a mainstay on Golf Magazine’s list of top instructors since its formation in 1996. He’s also appeared on Golf Digest’s list of the “50 Best Teachers in America,” and is a regular in the magazine’s “Best Teachers in Your State” rankings. Among the many players who have taken lessons from Griffin at Grand Cypress are Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Payne Stewart, and two-time Masters champions Bernhard Langer and Seve Ballesteros.
Griffin also teamed with CompuSport International and Dr. Ralph Mann to create the first science-based curriculum program in golf based on high-speed video and computer graphics. Griffin’s and Mann’s research on the biomechanics of the swing spawned the golf instruction book, Swing Like a Pro, which became a model for the many swing sequence analysis articles you see in magazines today.
