About “Tommy’s Honour”

Set against the early days of the sport and stunning landscape of Scotland, Tommy’s Honour, the 2016 BAFTA Scotland Best Feature Film, is based on the intimate and powerfully moving true story of the challenging relationship between “Old” Tom Morris and “Young” Tommy Morris, the dynamic father-son team pioneers who ushered in the modern era of golf.

As their fame grew exponentially, Tom and Tommy, Scotland’s golfing royalty, were touched by drama and personal tragedy. At first matching his father’s success, Tommy’s talent and fame grew to outshine his father’s stellar playing record and accomplishments as founder of the Open Championship in 1860, and as a course designer, the local caddie master, greens keeper and club & ball maker. In contrast to his public persona, Tommy’s inner turmoil ultimately led him to rebel against the aristocracy who gave him opportunity, led by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews chief Alexander Boothby (Sam Neill, JURASSIC PARK, THE PIANO), and against the parents who shunned his passionate relationship with his girlfriend-then-wife Meg Drinnen (Ophelia Lovibond, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, MAN UP).

This highly acclaimed film continues to receive amazing endorsements. According to PGA Tour Legend and two-time Masters Champion Ben Crenshaw states, “I hope everybody embraces this film because it is a poignant story that is so beautifully depicted.”

Tommy’s Honour also stars Ophelia Lovibond (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) and Sam Neill (JURASSIC PARK). Pamela Martin and Kevin Cook wrote the screenplay, an adaptation from Cook’s highly acclaimed book of the same name, which won the USGA’s Herbert Warren Wind Book of the Year Award in 2007. Keith Bank of KB Partners (HEAVEN IS A PLAYGROUND) serves as Producer and Executive Producer, along with Producers Bob Last of Holdings Ecosse, (L’IULLUSIONSTE, SUNSET SONG), Jim Kreutzer of Wind Chill Media Group (JUST WRITE, LAST GREAT RIDE) and Tim Moore of Top Dawg Productions (SULLY, AMERICAN SNIPER, GRAN TORINO, and INVICTUS). Tony award-winner, Kenneth Whitney Executive Produces together with Bank.

“Tommy’s Honour is a film that takes you into the soul of the game. Remarkably well done and enjoyable on every level”, says noted CBS broadcaster Bill Macatee.

Tommy’s Honour has received multiple awards, including the 2016 BAFTA Scotland Award for best feature film. Jack Lowden was nominated by 2016 BAFTA Scotland for his performance and the film was featured as the opening night gala film at the 2016 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
