Tucson, Ariz. (April 20, 2017) – Sewailo Golf Club at Casino Del Sol Superintendent Jonathan Williams was recently named an “Environmental Leader in Golf” by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and Golf Digest. Williams is the GCSAA’s Cactus & Pine Chapter honoree and will be recognized in upcoming issues of Golf Digest and Golf Course Management magazine, the GCSAA’s official monthly publication.
The Environmental Leader in Golf award recognizes golf course superintendents and their courses for overall course management excellence and best management practices in the areas of water conservation, water quality management, energy conservation, pollution prevention, waste management, wildlife and habitat conservation, communication and outreach, and leadership.
Presented by the GCSAA and Golf Digest in partnership with Syngenta and Rain Bird, Environmental Leaders in Golf award applications are reviewed and scored by an independent panel of judges. The judging panel includes university scientists, representatives from environmental organizations and golf industry professionals including irrigation specialists, independent agronomists, turfgrass consultants and other industry representatives.
“Jonathan and his agronomy team are incredible and are true stewards for the environment,” said Paul Nolen, general manager, Sewailo Golf Club. “They do a tremendous job of adopting environmental management practices while delivering the finest course conditions in Southern Arizona. We’re excited to see Jonathan recognized by the GCSAA and Golf Digest.”
Professionally managed by Troon, Sewailo Golf Club is located at 5655 West Valencia Road in Tucson adjacent to the Casino Del Sol.
